Pavlos Antoniadis is a Berlin-based pianist and musicologist, specializing in complex contemporary and experimental music. He performs regularly with the new music ensembles Work in Progress and KNM Berlin, while organizing and playing solo projects in European and other venues, often in collaboration with renowned and younger composers. Radical complexity, live electronics, music theatre and idiosyncratic excurtions in music history are his points of focus as a soloist. He has recorded for Mode, Wergo and Los Angeles River Records.
As a musicologist he advocates the development of performer-specific discources and practices for new music, with an interdisciplinary approach to the bond between notation and corporeality, influenced by cognitive science and cultural theory. Next to his published writings (Suhrkamp Verlag, CeReNeM Journal, EAM Book Series and online conference proceedings), he is currently developing an interface for real-time gestural processing of complex piano notation at IRCAM (musical research residency 2014).
Pavlos holds degrees in piano performance (MA, UC San Diego) and musicology (Athens National University) and is currently completing his PhD ("The development of a performer-specific navigational tool for complex piano scores after 1950,,) at the Hochschule für Musik Dresden.
Ο Παύλος Αντωνιάδης είναι πιανίστας με εξειδίκευση στη σύγχρονη
και πειραματική λόγια μουσική. Στα ενδιαφέροντά του συγκαταλέγονται:
-Πολύπλοκο ρεπερτόριο για σόλο πιάνο μετά το 1945, που εκτείνεται
από τους συνθέτες της “Νέας Πολυπλοκότητας” ως το Messiaen.
-Σύγχρονη International Ensemble Modern Academy, σε σχέση με οργανισμούς όπως το University of California, San Diego (UCSD) και το Ensemble Modern.
-Θεματικές συναυλίες-εκδηλώσεις, οι όποιες επιδιώκουν να κάνουν απτό το δυναμικό της σύγχρονης πρωτοποριακής μουσικής για μη-αποκλεισμό των μη-ειδικών.Ο διάλογος της Νέας Μουσικής με παλαιότερο ρεπερτόριο από τον Cabezón ως τον Bartók, καθώς και με ευρύτερα πολιτισμικά πλαίσια, άλλα Μέσα και μορφές τέχνης, είναι το μέσο για αυτό το σκοπό.
-Γραπτά γύρω από ένα εύρος θεμάτων, που εκτείνεται απότο μικρόκοσμο της πιανιστικής εκτέλεσης ως την εξερεύνηση συγγενειών ανάμεσα στη μουσική, τη φιλοσοφία και τις πολιτισμικές σπουδές.
Ο Παύλος έχει εμφανιστεί στις ΗΠΑ και σε διάφορες ευρωπαικές χώρες και έχει σπουδάσει στην Ελλάδα, την Ολλανδία και τις ΗΠΑ με υποτροφία Fulbright.
Σημαντικότεροι καθηγητές του ήταν οι: Χρυσή Παρθενιάδη,Ian Pace, Goeffrey Madge και Aleck Karis.
Από το 2010 είναι ο πιανίστας του συγκροτήματος σύγχρονης μουσικής Work in Progress-Berlin και ολοκληρώνει το διδακτορικό του στη σύγχρονη εκτελεστική πρακτική στη Hochschule für Musik Dresden (Ανάπτυξη ενός εργαλείου πλοήγησης για πολύπλοκες παρτιτούρες για πιάνο μετά το 1950).
Pavlos Antoniadis ist in Berlin lebender Pianist und Musikwissenschaftler, mit Focus auf die neue und experimentelle Musik. Als Solist hat er mit den Komponisten Helmut Lachenmann, Brian Ferneyhough, Mark Andre, Beat Furrer, Wolfgang Rihm, Nicolas Tzortzis, Andrew Noble u.a. gearbeitet, für Aufführungen in Frankreich, Deutschland, Holland, Griechenland, Österreich, Italien, England, Irland, Argentinien und USA. Er ist Mitglieder des Ensembles Work in Progress-Berlin und Gast beim Kammerensemble Neue Musik Berlin. und er hat zeitgenössische Kammermusik mit S. Schick & J. Avery (Mode records), C. Curtis & A. Burr (Los Angeles River Records), als auch solo Klaviermusik von Luis Antunes Pena für WERGO, aufgenommen. 2011-12 arbeitete er beim IRCAM, wo er auch ein Interface für die gestische Bearbeitung der komplexen Notation entwickeln wird (musical research residency 2014). Er studierte Klavier am Nakas Konservatorium in Athen, am Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag, privat in London mit Ian Pace, und erhielt sein MA in der University of California, San Diego, mit Fulbright, UCSD, Nakas and Impuls Academy Stipendien.
Als Musikwissenschaftler ist er beschäftigt mit Themen wie: Aufführungspraxis, komplexe Klavier Musik nach 1950, Intermedialität, Live-Elektronik, Verkörperte und Erweiterte Kognition. Er erhielt mein Diplom von der nationalen Universität in Athen und gerade promoviert an der Hochschule für Musik Dresden unter J. P. Hiekel und W. Lessing. Veröffentliche Schrifte demnächst von Suhrkamp Verlag, the CeReNeM Journal und the EAM Book Series. Vorlesungen in Universitäten und Hochschulen in England, Irland, Griechenland, Deutschland, Frankreich.
